Big breasts can be problematic for individuals just as much as small breasts.  Breast size can cause functional issues beyond the aesthetic appearance.  Extremely large breasts can also cause shoulder, back, lower back pain and rash under the breasts.  Achieving very high levels of patient satisfaction, the basic principle of this surgery is to reduce the breast as much as possible by leaving as few scars as possible and to achieve the best result in terms of aesthetics and function.  My ultimate goal is to perform a reduction operation to provide the highest level satisfaction with minimal amount of scars at the same time based on the surgeries I have performed and the experiences I had in this field for many years.

It is necessary to make sure as to whether there is a pathology in the breasts through ultrasonography for patients under 40 years of age and mammography for patients over 40 years of age before performing the breast reduction operation.

The best practice is to perform the same examinations again one year after the operation.

This is because changes are observed in relation to surgery due to the fact that women are exposed to many diseases related to breasts in the future.

Therefore, although breast reduction operation has certain disadvantages such as decreased lactation capacity, loss of sensation and scar marks on the nipple, it is a very frequent operation since it also provides many advantages.  Another advantage that would never come to the mind is the possibility to perform pathological examination on the removed breast tissues and it is made possible to diagnose early stage breast cancer following the examination.

On the other hand, breast reduction surgery is an operation that minimizes the risk of breast cancer as this possibility is eliminated through removal of a potential cancer cell that may grow in the future, from the removed breast tissue during the breast reduction procedure.

However, I do not perform breast reduction surgery during your menstrual period.

You will be discharged after staying in the hospital for 1 day following the operation and you can return to your social life and work after approximately 1 week or 10 days.

How is the Course of a Breast Reduction Operation?

Breasts that are too large can cause chronic neck and back pain and even leading to posture disorders up to kyphosis.  Women with too large breasts may have difficulties during daily activities and may have problems in choosing clothes.  ⠀

It is possible to overcome all these problems through breast reduction surgery.  ⠀

The breast tissue is reshaped in accordance with the body size of the individual during the breast reduction operation.  Excess breast tissue and breast skin are removed.  The nipple is moved upwards.  ⠀

Applied under general anesthesia, the breast reduction operation can take between 2.5 and 4 hours. ⠀

Drains are attached to both breasts for the removal of excess fluids accumulated between the tissues after breast reduction surgery and then, the drain is removed after 1-2 days.  Special bra-like dressings are applied immediately after the operation.  The dressing is replaced after 1 week. ⠀

Swelling, bruising, numbness in the nipple can be observed after the surgery.  These problems can disappear spontaneously within one week. Patients can go back to work usually within a week after the operation.  It is advisable to avoid intensive exercises and strenuous movements for 3 months.
