Aesthetic ear surgery is an operation that is mostly applied to remedy a medical condition called otapostasis, colloquially known as bat ears. It can be applied after the age of 5 to make children feel better psychologically before reaching to school-age. This operation can be performed at any time in the future if not performed in the childhood. The operation can be performed under general anesthesia in children and under general, local anesthesia or sedation in adults.
The operation is performed by intervening through the back of the ear, reshaping the ear cartilages and applying permanent sutures. Both permanence and much more natural results can be attained with the special sutures that I have developed for preventing detachment of the upper part of the ear and the relocation of the ear muscle.
While the children may stay in the hospital for one day, the adults can be discharged on the same day following the operation. Afterwards, special bandages to keep the ear in the established form are worn for about 4-6 weeks. Being an operation with very high levels of patient satisfaction, prominent ear surgery is one of the operations that I perform very often and with pleasure.
